Antonio, JobTrain Carpentry Program

As a senior at EPAA, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do after graduation. Thankfully, we have a Senior Seminar class to help us explore possible career paths. With the support and resources provided by the Wender Weis Foundation for Children, I learned about the world of construction. That sparked my interest in pursuing this field as a career. I’m proud to be part of the first Hughes Vocational Cohort.

My goal is to be a licensed journeyman electrician, which starts with being an apprentice. It can take some time to get into the apprenticeship program, so I am taking every opportunity I can to gain experience in the field to be as prepared as possible once I can start. I completed the JobTrain Carpentry program this spring, where I learned a lot and got multiple certifications. My next step is to enroll in the Trades Introduction Program to learn even more!
